EMILY + MICHAEL - A beautiful fall wedding at My Sister’s Barn in Fairgrove MI
We couldn’t have asked for a better Indian Summer day for Emily and Michael’s wedding! It went from bright sunshine to threats of rain throughout the day - but we were so lucky that it didn’t ruin any of our outdoor portrait time!
Emily and Michael’s day was perfect down to every last detail. They put so much of their creative talents into making their wedding everything they’d dreamed it would be! Emily said one of the perks of having a 20 month engagement was being able to practice until perfect the things she wanted to make! She actually made her own bouquet and the bridesmaids as well!! You really need to pay close attention to that in the pictures - it’s unreal how beautiful they were! She even made her own veil! That’s one talented bride:)
Speaking of perfection - I really can’t imagine a couple more meant to be together! Their love for one another was so special to watch. Every few minuets you’d hear Michael say - “Isn’t she just beautiful!” And, the I love you’s were exchanged just as many times:) The love didn’t stop with just Emily and Michael - they had the most wonderful group of friends and family - so supportive and so much history shared between them all! Their families shared a German tradition at the reception called “Sie Leben Hoch” - which is a way to to toast and celebrate the new couple! It was so fun to watch as the couple was raised and lowered in their chairs over and over, while everyone chanted and sang the german words of the special toast. I couldn’t wait to see Michael’s groomsmen lift him in the chair - Michael is not a small man and likely well over six feet tall! The laughter was contagious - and they did it effortlessly! So much fun!!
The bride and groom began their love story when they met while attending Michigan Tech University. They both graduated with engineering degrees and Emily additionally as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force! Since graduation, while working through long distance and a long engagement, shared adventures, and much planning - they finally made it to the finish line - which is actually just the beginning for these two! They started married life with a European honeymoon and when they return, will settle in - finally together in the same state:)
Congratulations Emily and Michael and many blessings for a long and happy life together!
Enjoy a few of my favorite highlights from their day!
