BRITTANY + SPENCER - A summer wedding in Holland, Michigan
Brittany and Spencer got married on a picturesque, sunny afternoon in Holland, one of the most beautiful cities in Michigan! If you had to script the perfect wedding weather - this would have been it! Sunny, breezy and barely 70 degrees. We were beyond fortunate as surrounding this day we had some record breaking heat! The group began the day with their family and wedding party, getting ready at the hotel - before heading to downtown Holland for the first look with Brittany and Spence and group portraits. One of my favorite moments of the morning had to be when the groomsmen were all getting ready. I was happy to see there were no boutonnieres to pin on the guys which usually can take up a fair amount of time:) There were however - the pocket squares - which left them all at odds as to how fold them. One of the groomsmen found a tutorial (thank heavens for youtube) and jumped up to lead them in what looked like an origami class at Michaels Craft store:) It was hilarious!! They all got an A+!
We made our way thru picturesque downtown Holland and ended at Riley Park for photographs before heading to the wedding venue. The ceremony and reception were held at the stunning Macatawa Golf club. What a gorgeous venue!! Brittany and Spencer had the most heartfelt ceremony which was officiated by one of their best friends (who just happens to be my son-in-law). Kyle did an amazing job conveying to all what a special couple they are, not only to each other, but to all who know them. The couple then recited their hand written vows which made emotions flow for everyone. It was in that moment - when Brittany quietly asked - “Can we at least hug right now?” It was so heartwarming!
The reception that evening was spectacular - so much love -so much energy with all of their friends and family. No one wanted it to end. The vista out each window was breathtaking, and the details inside were equally as elegant. I loved the small touches like the antique cake topper that has been in Spencer’s family for generations - to the dessert charcuterie boards that were served to each table. Soooo delicious!!
Brittany and Spencer, my sister and I were so honored to be a part of your wedding day! If family and friends are a measure of one’s wealth - you two have riches to last a lifetime:) Much love to you both!
