ALEX + CHASE - A Northern Michigan Lakeside Wedding

    Alex and Chase got married, surrounded by their closest family and friends, in a beautiful ceremony at Houghton Lake, Michigan. These high school sweethearts had planned for an outdoor ceremony in front of the lake - but as all of us Michiganders know too well - the weather here can change on a dime and frequently does!  We went from a couple of months worth of drought conditions - to a week of heavy, down pouring rain! They pivoted with grace and smiles and moved the ceremony to the reception tent - and it was all still beyond beautiful!

    One of my favorite moments during their ceremony was when both Alex and Chase’s family members came up and surrounded them - each taking a turn to say a special prayer for them.  Alex and Chase also wrote the most heartfelt vows to each other that beautifully illustrated how much love and respect they have for one another:)  I can imagine how incredibly proud their parents must be of them!

   Michigan did not disappoint in the end - and surprised us with a brief break in-between downpours for us to grab as many “dry” outdoor portraits as we could!  Despite the rain, Alex, Chase and their wedding party were willing participants earlier in the day to get a little (ok - a lot) wet for some pictures as well. It will definitely make for some fun memories and images!  I am also so grateful we had the opportunity to go back out a few days later - when the sun was on full display - and get a few more portraits - it was so worth it!

     Best wishes Alex and Chase - for the beautiful life ahead that I envision you both will have!  Thank you for the honor of choosing me to capture your wedding day:) My sister and I had so much fun with all of you!  I also want to mention both the Bortel and Whal families for putting together such a beautiful wedding for their children!
